I've always had a 'thing' for unwanted furniture. Our garage has been stuffed full of bits and pieces that I've picked up for years. There's probably a little bit of anthropomorphism going on, but I can't help but take pity on them, knowing that with some tlc (and a lot of elbow grease) they can go on to live another few decades at least in someone's home again, rather than sent to landfill.
After years of refurbishing for a hobby in my spare time, I was made redundant and went on a course to learn the 'proper' way to upholster and restore furniture. I've never looked back! Now I'm in my element, happily creating gorgeous one-off pieces for people who like something unique, quirky and ethical.
